Florent is leading the business and operations activities at Ubenwa, a Montréal-based startup building the future of sound-based medical diagnostics by leveraging cutting-edge AI research. As such, he’s fortunate to be in a position to help shape and build products targeting improved newborns’ health outcomes. Prior to Ubenwa, Florent spent 12 years in business & technology consulting and has led the end-to-end delivery of impactful AI solutions in multiple industries such as healthcare, aerospace, retail, and freight.

“How AI and cry analysis could save newborns lives“

AI is the talk of the town these days, and a vast, fast-growing technology field. Yet AI models are tools, a means to achieve broader objectives. If the past 5 years of building AI-powered products have taught me one thing, it is that no matter how advanced and groundbreaking the technology is, it will fall dramatically short of its potential if it’s not built into the right product, for the right people, at the right moment.

In this talk, I’ll share about the most impactful and exciting AI technology I have the chance to be working on, how the path to turning it into a product that could save millions of lives pushed us to take many detours, and what we have learned along the way.
